Wan goes on to say that shooting with water, practical effects, and real actors “just makes it very hard and time-sucking and time-challenging to do all of this”.
For the longest time, Aquaman has unfairly been treated as the most useless member of the Justice Leaguebecause of his goofy portrayal in Super Friends. He listed things like “CG with the hair, and how their clothing moves, how are they floating, what kind of rig we put them on”, as some of the challenges. No matter how complicated it is, I think we’re in good hands with Wan at the helm of Aquaman.
“Momoa is not a guy that you would go up to and make fun of”.
Introduced in 2013 by writer Geoff Johns and artist Paul Pelletier in DC Comics’ Aquaman #13, Nereus is the king of Xebel, a mostly forgotten extradimensional penal colony for an ancient group of separatists banished by Atlantis behind a sealed portal. “If anything, I embrace it and being able to laugh at yourself and have fun at yourself is important and that’s something I am aware of as I make Aquaman right now”, he told The Wrap. I don’t think anyone gives him enough credit for how serious he actually takes his craft. “He’s taking it very seriously on this film”, Wan said of Lundgren in the same interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Though he admitted that the film is not easy to shoot, he hopes that this will pay off when it comes out in theater soon. Shooting is now underway on the Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia, with extensive filming to be accomplished at Village Roadshow Studios.
“Aquaman” stars Jason Momoa in the titular role and is slated for a December 2018 release. While the plot has been kept under safe guards, the director recently opened about the film and teased a few spoilers from the Jason Momoa movie.
The Aquaman cast includes Jason Momoa as the titular King of Atlantis, with Amber Heard as his wife Mera, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Ludi Lin as Murk, Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master, Academy Award victor Nicole Kidman as Atlanna and Michael Beach as Jesse Kane.
